Ok so I just reformatted my computer and reinstalled Windows XP Professional, now when I try to update my video card drivers my computer freezes, I can download it fine but it freezes during install. I looked in device manage and Video Controller says that the driver is not installed. Same goes for SM Bus Controller. Where do I get these drivers from? And when I get them will I be able to update my video card drivers? My Computer is an HP Pavilion a1130n, and my video card is a radeon xpress 200.. please help thank you

You might want to use these drivers from ATI/AMD:

I think the south bridge drivers at the bottom of that page will take care of the SM bus controller. I don't think it's part of the 'full software suite'.

I tried that and my computer still freezes during the installation, all those drivers make my computer freeze during installation. Its really annoying... Thats why I dunno If I can get the VIdeo Controller Driver it might help... any other ideas on where I can get the driver to that?

That is the video controller driver.
Uninstall any previous installation attempts. You may need to do the install from safe mode.

ok so I was able to install the south bridge driver in safe mode everything went fine with that.. I was also able to get rid of the SMbus controller issue using something else... However in my device manager it still says Video Controller (VGA Compatible) is missing its driver... I dunno where to go from here...

You might be able to install an earlier driver version. This one from packard bell looks to be a little older:

You are using the on-board graphics controller and not an add-on card right? If you've added a card then you don't have the xpress 200.

Those will be the correct drivers then. As I mentioned above, an older version may be easier to install and any xpress 200 download should be compatible. Check any installation notes to make sure you don't have to do something special for the install.
You might want to run msconfig and temporarily disable any software you've added in STARTUP just in case it's conflicting with the install.
