Hi!
I have a problemwith my PC playing high-demand games like ROME:Total War and WOW III. The system just freezes in those. My mouse curser in windows also has the nasty habbit of freezing. Mouse is still sensitive and I can move and click, but the icon of the curses stays at one spot. Not a huge problem as I changes the "trace" function of the mouse and now I can see where it is.
However, I know something is wrong with my machine. Windows is newly installed, drivers for my GeForce are the newest from nvidia.com. DirectX 9 just newly installed as well.
Is there any way I can test my video card to see if it is the problem?!
I tried 3DMark benchmarking and it crashes (when I plug an older video card with less capabilities tests run OK).
Anything else I could do to confirm my suspicions?!
Thanks in advance!
Martin

It always helps if you list your complete system specs, inclucing the PSU wattage & amperage on the +12v rail.

Since you said Windows is fresh, did you install SP2 & run all the updates? Install the motherboard chipset drivers? Are you sure all your BIOS settings are correct? Simply running defaults is not the way to go.

Hellz Yea!

My specs are as follows:
Computer Type ACPI Multiprocessor PC
Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Professional
OS Service Pack Service Pack 2
DirectX 4.09.00.0904 (DirectX 9.0c)

Motherboard:
CPU Type Intel Pentium 4, 2400 MHz (12 x 200)
Motherboard Name MSI 865PE Neo2-S (MS-6728) (5 PCI, 1 AGP, 4 DDR DIMM, Audio)
Motherboard Chipset Intel Springdale i865PE
System Memory 512 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)
BIOS Type AMI (09/29/04)
Display:
MSI GeForce4 MX440 W/TV 64MB 8X AGP Video Card

I am not quite sure what do you mean by wattages and BIOS setting.
DDR RAM freguency is set to 400MHz. my CPU clock is also at 400 MHz. I can ajust those two if you suggest. CPU Core Voltage is 1.5, temp: HD = 29, CPU = 27, Motherboard = 28.

I did not mention those because I am concerned that something electrical might have happened with my video card (my power supply gave up and I replaced it).
Let me know if you need more info and where should I look for it.

I have SP2 and newest drivers for my motheerboard, BIOS and whatever else MSI has.

Thanks in advance,
Martin
