Video Card Shutting Down

May 24, 2009 at 17:46:35
Specs: Windows Vista
I have been having this problem with my video card actually shutting down when I play games. It works just fine for normal windows applications ( Internet, word processing, etc..) as soon as I run a game the screen goes black and when I wqait for a second or two my monitor goes to sleep. I can hear the game running in the background which means my computer isnt locked up. HELP!

Sounds like a bad video card. The 8500GT is crap anyway & not much good for games. Now you have an excuse to buy something decent. And make sure you have an adequate power supply with plenty of amperage on the +12v rail.
