video card install

Specs: Windows 7, Q6600/4gb 800
Upgraded psu [450w]from stock pos[250w] installed nvidia 9300GS that I had laying around. Disabled on board graphics,rebooted nothing.Checked BIO'S and set to pci-e start and auto detect,does not recognize new card install.197.13driver installed.Has nvidia 7050 onboard chip.Whats the trick on this machine? Not like any box I've had before.

Before you installed the new card, you should have uninstalled the old video drivers. Then you should have shutdown, installed the new card & transferred the monitor plug from the onboard to the card. On the next startup, you should have immediately entered the BIOS & depending on what settings are available, disable the onboard, set the shared memory to none, changed the initial display from onboard to PCIe. Save the settings & boot into Windows..THEN install the new drivers.
