March 25, 2010 at 23:10:03
Specs: Windows XP, plenty
I own a Dell, and in it, I have this: video Adapter Properties \r\nDevice Description 32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra
Adapter String 32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra Display Adapter
Chip Type RAGE128 PRO II, (AGP 4X/PCI)
DAC Type Internal DAC (350Mhz)
Installed Drivers ati2dvaa (
Memory Size 32 MB

Video Adapter Manufacturer
Company Name ATI Technologies Inc.

I go to there website, I find NO drivers for the "32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra", I on rare finds one that is for "32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra PRO, but I do not have pro.,

I have only the word ultra. In my comp specs it shows me this: Model: 32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra
Driver: ati2mtaa.sys
Monday, April 08, 2002

And in belroc, and Everrest, it shows me this: Display 32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra

I have no other way to know how to find out anymore info then whats avalable to me. I am not computer savy.

I have a game, that needs directx9, I download that. But when I installed the game, it informs me that my graphics card needs a driver compatiable with 9x, but for the life of me, I have not been able to find one, let alone one for MY card at all.

Please help this poor sucker.. Thanks, Tom

I need an updated driver for my 32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra.
Not an updated driver for a 32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra PRO.
I can not find one at the ATI website, infact there are no ATI rage products to be found there, but one, and its not mine.

I'm lost :-(

Have you tried checking Dell's website? - put in your service tag or model number - there may be an updated driver there.

Wow, cool on that Dell site idea.

I found some cool things to later look over.

However, in regards to the
"32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra"

There was only one thing there>

Dell recommends the customer review specifics about the update to determine if it applies to your system. The update contains changes that impact only certain configurations, or provides new features that may/may not apply to your environment.

Fixes and Enhancements

Fixes an issue following S3 resume.

And I have NO Clue what
a "S3 resume" even is. IF I did, perhaps I could tell if I have the problem, or dont'. Least for future ref...

Anyone can tell me what that even is?

As for the problem I am having.

Not a thing there about a driver to get my card to work for 9X

Rage 128, Rage 128 Pro, Rage 128 Ultra, etc...they all use the same driver. Considering the age of the card (10 yrs+), I doubt the drivers at ATI are any better than the ones available thru Windows Update. I don't know what you expect a driver update will accomplish with an outdated card that only supports DX6?

Here's the drivers for both XP & 98/ME:

The thing is, the comp was brand new. And I have not had it for (10 yrs+)...

As well I would think the driver (which is what this is most about, is what its about) was one that was used at the time the comp was built.

As for the card, I have no idea how old it is, or for that matter directx9...

I know there is now 10 and 11..., as well I had 8 installed for about three years roughly. I just would have thought there would/should be a driver for the card that surely would work with X9...

As well even one that is newer then 2002....

I have directx9 now installed thinking game would work, but I installed it after the game was. Maybe uninstalling the game, and placing it back in might work. Though I am thinking I doubt it....

As for the Win XP driver, that may help, I am not sure. I will try that after above thoughts.

I know the win 98 thing wont be of help one bit. I have Win XP Home, so I would never be using that. Though the driver might work anyway, LOL........

Microsoft: Like Ford, Fixed Or Repaired Daily.

IF It were not for Microsoft, what would we all have to fix? Chuckles...

OoooooK, I will try the above, then try the XP driver, and if then no go, well, then no go....

Unless someone knows of a directx9 driver I can use for "my" card..

Thanks, will follow up when I can and know more... :-)

Ahhh, Just now a follow up...

I went and looked at the XP driver page, for which is the ATI site...

That wont work, that driver there, is even older then the one I have now for the card.
The Rage 128/Rage 128 PRO there, that one is dated for October 2001..
The others there are not for mine....

So, I will try to add the game again, and see what follows.., Again Thanks...

Well, I tried removing the game, and then reinstall it. No Go..

So I either have to give up the game, or find a way to get a new card, or hope somewhere there may be a driver that will work with X9 for my card.

Not sure if it will be of any help.

Its the game:
Beyond Good & Evil...
By Ubisoft...

Thanks for your help all.
