I purchased 2 computer monitors from a dealer with the ends of the cables being cut off. I would like to know if it is possible to reconnect the wires to the pinout by soldering them. Is there a standard way of reconnecting the wires or does each monitor manufacturer have different ways of connecting these wires. One monitor has nine wires & the other eleven. They have common colors. What do these colors mean? Please help. Thanks

You might find it easier if you gain access to the lead ends in the back of the monitor. Look to see if there screw based or solder attached.

I wouldnt attach an end to either but replace the entire cable.

Some might disagree but this is the easiest and safest way from my point of view.

Wires should be available direct from the manufactures or from a third party store.

The Monitor connectors are extremely difficult to replace/repair because of the close proximity of the pins. You can find the pinout here:
