Earlier today my son's pc had a root system error. I believe the error was: windows root\system32\hal.dll missing. I ran the recovery disk and the pc seemed to be running fine. However, the screen went black, 'VGA no input' showed on screen, then nothing. I checked the cables and connections, all good. Cleared out all the dust inside the tower, checked the video card, plugged in snug, turned the pc back on, got the same VGA no input message, but now also getting 'beeps'. What do I try next?

Ok, While reading other posts, I was able to figure out the beeping :). Apparently when I was checking to make sure everything had good connections and removing dust, I didn't get the RAM all the way in. Got it all snug and happy and for now the pc seems to be working again. I am glad I stumbled onto this site and I have marked it as a favorite, I am sure I will need help again!
