Hi,

I mounted an Asus P3B-F with a PII 350Mhz, 128Mo SDRAM PC 100, using 16Mo nVedia graphic card.

The board is set up with jumper mode enabled and the speeds are: Bus 33Mhz, CPU/SDRAM 100Mhz.

It starts ok with no bad signs when it only has one HDD and a floppy connected to it. The second I plug in a CDROM - be it DVDRom, CDRW, it immediately shuts off. All these CD drives work, I used them on other computers. I know the memory sticks are ok, I tested them elsewhere.

In the BIOS, the IDE channels are set enabled at both, and I tested each individually with different types if HDD and the board will detect them.

I tried setting one particular channel CDROM in the BIOS, but no joy with that. I tested my IDE cables, they are ok too.

I tested using 2 HDD on one channel, and under DOS am able to work with both.

BUT if I try to put one HDD on each channel (Primary - master andSecondary - master configuration) no way! Shuts off again.

So, when I bring a CDROM anywhere near this board it shuts off and when I plug two drive, one on each channel it shuts off. Have you ever had this trouble? Anyone know why this is?

To make this even more strange, in order to get the OS installed, I put the HDD in an other comp and copied the cab files on the HDD, then put it back in this one. I installed Win98, then, like if all is normal, it sees the CDrom, and uses it with no problems????

I wonder if a BIOS flash could do any good.
