Hey everybody. A while agao I was having a problem where after a bit of gaming my sound would get alot of interfearance, I checked and the southbridge was extremely hot to the touch. So I put a small chipset heatsink on the southbridge and it cleared up the problem. But recently the problem has started again, I felt the heatsink and it was very hot to the touch. Much hotter than any other component in my computer. I can live with the small bit of interfearance in the sound during games but I'm not sure if it is healthy for the southbridge to be so warm, this problem started shortly after I added my 6800Ultra which blows hot air right where the southbridge is. Should I add some extra cooling or should I just forget about it?

Add the cooling. It's obviously suffering a level of heat stress and that can only shorten the life of the board.
I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

OK thanks Richard. I'll see if I can find a larger heatsink for it and and get some cool airflow to it. I can only do so much though because there isnt much room between it and the graphics cards huge fan and heatsink assembly, I was looking at the temperature readouts on my computer and the video card gets all the way up to 72*C. Its dumping all the hot air right on top of my southbridge... I'm going to have to find a way too cool this thing a little better.
