Hi,

The front of my computer has a metal front with tiny holes, then right behind this is a mesh filter. Since it is not easy to take off the front of the case (I have to remove my CD-ROM drive) to clean the filters, could I just vacuum the front of my case? Since it is touching the rest of the case, wouldn't that absorb the static from the vacuum.
If it is okay, after turning of my computer, should I leave the power cable plugged in or not?
If it's not safe to vacuum the filters, is there any other way to clean them without removing the front of the case?
Thanks,
Jonathan

Just switch the power in the back of your power supply from "- to O" then you will not have any power to the computer, you can vacuum it from there. If you want to clean it in another way, you have to take off the front case. Unless there's another way of taken it off inside the case. Really depend on the way the case was built.

Pentium 4 3.6Ghz Prescott
Asus P5WD2 Premium
Corsair XMS 2Gig DDR2 667Mhz
X700Pro 256MB GDDR3
WD Raptor 36.7GB
WD 250GB 16MB SATA II
Coolermaster 430Watt

I don't have a case yet I enjoy not having one

Hi, Death has the right idea. Leaving the AC power plug in the wall and turning off the supply keeps the third wire safety ground connected. You should have no problems. Jim

Thanks for the replies!

So if I turn off my computer, leave the AC cord plugged in, and turn the P/S to "O", I should be able to vacuum the filters that are inside the bezel without hurting any of the components.
If I did the steps above, it would still hurt the components if I vacuumed inside the case, right?

FYI - You should use only nattery powered computer vacuum cleaner. Never use an electric vacuum cleaner on the inside of the computer case. Electric vacuum cleaners create static electricity that can damage the internal components. Read more HERE

Get a can of compressed air to blow out the inside of the case.

It's Ok to use a vacuum cleaner on the front filters. You probably don't even need to power down the box, but do it anyway.
