I would like to find out what is the best configuration for the SCSI HDD and IDE HDD coexist in the same system? Please correct me if I am wrong about this. If I used the SCSI HDD then the Primary IDE channel must be empty, right? I want to use all the IDE channels available to me for all of my IDE HDD if I can at the same time using the SCSI HDD.

2 differnt animals you can use as many scsi hard drives as your controller will allow and as many IDE devices (usually 4) as your system will support. you can coose to have either your scsi drive as the boot device ot the master drive on the primary IDE channel.

IDE and SCSI drives can easily coexist on the same system. I'm not sure where you heard the primary IDE channel had to be empty (no drives). The main problem with mixing standards is if you want to boot from the SCSI drive. Most BIOSes until recently were programmed only to look for IDE drives to boot from. Your BIOS may or may not have an option to boot from the SCSI.
