i was curious on how difficult it would be to install a 200gb hard drive thru a promise ata133 controller card. i was told after installing the pci card winxp would recognize it after post and the card would break the 137gb barrier on it's own. do i need any special updates would i have to do something with my bios. i'm using a an msi k7t turbo limited edition board with a 1ghz amd processor. any advice would be greatly appreciated

My 160 broke the "barrier" on its own.
Should be that easy.

The Promise ATA133 controller card has it's own BIOS. After your motherboard's BIOS gets done then the Promise card's BIOS takes over and run's it's own drive detection. Once you are into Windows you will probably have to install the driver for the card. After the driver is installed the card will show up in list of "SCSI and RAID controllers". Depending upon the card and it's driver the drives may show up in the list of "Disk drives".
You can also boot from a hard drive connected to this card. In the BIOS for the motherboard select "Boot from SCSI" or "Boot from other". You will have to check the motherboard manual for the exact option.
