No, but if you want to see and control the desktop, Yes, if both machines have an ethernet connection. There is a product called VNC or variations of, that does this very thing. And its FREE. search Google VNC the original link was ATT UK, but they are no longer developing it.

Control the OS. It is a setable option. You can just look at the other desktop or you can enable your mouse and keyboard so that you can control the other computer. I use it to remotely control a CD burner, and execute long running jobs on another computer.

you can use vnc (www.realvnc.com), but it is primarily used for remote desktop connection. i use my laptop monitor to connect to my desktop and i can switch between the two at will by pushing scroll lock twice. i did this by purchasing an adapter and a kvm switch from iogear (www.iogear.com). it is very easy to set-up and use and their tech and customer support is great. they should be able to answer any questions that you have. the total cost of this setup will be between $40-100 depending on what type of kvm switch you purchase. some come with ps2 connection only, some usb only, some with both types of connections, and some come with a sound connector as well. i hope this helps, but i don't recommend using vnc since it takes away some functionality.
