Well, I have built my computer about a month ago and im having a big problem... im running xp pro sp2 with 430psu 1 gb ram x2 3800+cpu 6800gt video and ive got a giga-byte GAK8N pro sli motherboard. whenever i plug in anything into my usb ports...it detects there is something there...powers it(charges mp3)(lights up LEDs)but it gives me the balloon that says my device has malfunctioned... ive tried my mouse, controller, creative zen touch mp3, and some other things i cant remember but they all come with the same error, ive also tried using a pci to usb card with 2 usb ports and that does the same exact thing, in device manager it says the device is working properly, i believe i have newest bios (f7) and newest chipset drivers including usb 2.0 drivers. if there is anything else i should include for information please ask im desperate for help and i know there are a lot of smart people on this forum Trza!

If you installed your chipset drivers and usb drivers before you installed sp2, try removing them all and reinstalling again. Also check your motherboard and make sure you have the usb plugged into the 2.0 on the board. GOOD Luck.... Windows: Just another pane in the glass
