I would like to upgrade my USB ports in my 4 yearold HP 8565C to the new 2.0. It came with the slower old USB. How hard is it to do? Di I just install a ne w card and if so, do the old ports became disabled? I am trying to squeeze another year out of this computer. Anything easy on adding an AGP Video card to the AGP slot. I ahve read about the video card hell many people are in when they try this swap. I also have a power supply of 160 watts which isn't as much as they generally recommend with this sort of upgrade.

Upgrading to USB 2.0 only requires the installation of a USB 2.0 PCI card. I don't believe that your existing USB ports would be disabled.

With your 160W power supply, you will be hard pressed to find a decent video card that won't over tax your system

My P3 750MHZ 256M.B. SDRAM came with integrated graphics ,so after having the PC for about 6 months I decided to upgrade with a graphics card ,I also installed an extra fan called a slot fan for more cooling ,I installed a internal CD-RW to compliment the DVD-ROM it came with, I added a 128M.B. SDRAM stick to give me a total of 256M.B. RAM .After all of these additions , I found out I had a 145W power supply .I was going to install a 300W P.S.a friend gave me that was new ,.he dicided to put a 450W in his new P4 system ! When I attempted to install the new P.S. ,it turned out it was to big for my mid-size tower . After posting about upgrading the P.S. ,one reply asked me if I was getting errors radonm freeze ups etc. the answer is no . My PC is very stable ,so I kept the 145W and to this day I still have no ill effects from using this P.S. ,in my case the old "if it aint broke dont fix it " applied !
Good Luck Nick

I want to get this right. By just installing a USB 2.) board, my computer will recognize it and I can upload my digital photos faster? It wont confuse thsi USB with my older slower ones?
