Has anyone has any exprience using these thumb drives I see out ? You can get 128M.B. and 256M.B. they are UBB 3.0 and 1.1 compatable. I was thinking of buying one to transfer data from my home PC, to my PC in my office at work ! They say the Thumb Drive is plug and play and that your system reconizes it as a second H.D. ? Any input appreciated , B/4 I make the purchase !
Thanks to All,Nick

Hi
i have a pqi usb drive and it works great no drivers needed at all if you run win xp but if you don't you have to install drivers for it and it does show as another drive and you format it and label it as if it was another hard drive very easy to use the only thing i have not been able to do with it so far is to boot from it so i can get rid of the old flopy drive.

You should have no problems with XP, ME, or 2000. If any work pc's are Win 98, you will need to install the drivers. The only problem would be if your company prohibits doing so.

Love 'em. Just plug it into USB port, XP finds it instantly. Ours never shuts down at home, and I transfer files between home & work. Fast like crazy. fits in your shirt pocket.

I use a SanDisk cruzer, accepts any SD card, about the size if a zippo and plugs into any Me or above machine. Recognized as "Removable Disk [X:]" in few seconds. Drivers are needed for Win98.

I don't know of a quicker easier way to transfer folders and files.

Nick:

I have two 128mb USB Flash (pen/thumb) drives myself. Like the others I like them a lot. I find it much easier to transfer large files than burning CDs. Mine I have been able to get running under DOS. There are a few good threads on this website as to how to do that.

If in any way think that in the future you might want to "boot" from the Flash drive, be very careful what you buy. Most are not "bootable" and I believe you also need a USB boot option in your BIOS.

I was really happy with my USB pen drive, tell one day it just died on me! I don't know how it happened, but I lost all my files! So now I need a knew one. I had a PNY Attaché 64MB. I never was able to get it to work in DOS. DOS is my second favorite OS behind Red Hat. hwood could you tell me what pen drive you have.

Well I took the dive or should I say drive ! I purchased a 256M.B. PNY Attache'! Someone did complain that their Attache' stopped working all of a sudden .However I liked the style of this thumb drive better the the others they had available at Best Buy! I probably could have got a better price on the net, however I wanted it instantly ! Just a week ago they had the 128M.B. PNY's for around $20 after rebate ,now they are not even going to carry that size anymore, so I was told ! I just went ahead and bought the 256MB at 80 something $'s ! Thanks to everyone that replied ,Nick
