does anyone know if a Husqvarna/Viking Embroidery card would work with a generic USB Reader/Writer? the card looks like a memory card for cameras but i am not sure if it's the right one.

This from the main UK outlet seems to indicate you may need a specific card reader for their cards:
"Additional Requirements: A USB port is required to connect to the Husqvarna Viking d-Card Reader Writer Kit (part no. 412 6278-01) for the Husqvarna Viking Designer II"
Try looking here for details of the readers to use, depending on your machine: http://www.husqvarnavikingsoftware.com/websit e/software/fileconversion.htm?
