Hi,
Here's the basics of my problem: I was editing in MS Config and some slight BIOS options in order to speed up my boot time and general operations, and when I restarted my computer was haywire. The problems that persist are as follows:
-USB ports will not work -Sound will only work in select progams, but not in Windows functions -Various software not unctioning correctly -Every time I boot, a check must be done of my slave hard drive to check for "consistency"
I have tried several things to fix this, but to no avail. I also posted about it earlier in the XP forum: http://computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard/forum/90014.html

I could only say, roll back to your old configuration. Then try use bootvis.exe to get a better boot time.

I already did go back to the old config. I don't know why it is still not working.
Where do I get bootvis?

remove all the devices that are playing up through device manager, then re-boot XP will pick them up and re-install them with the correct drivers which will already be in your drivers folder.

You mean, all audio devices? Or just ones that are flagged? Because I don't have any that are causing errors.. or that it says are causing errors.

To solve the usb persistant problems try this uninstall the actual usb ports in device manager, if you uninstall them XP will pick them up on a re-boot and hopefully eliminate any problems you were having with them. Also once this is done look for any usb patches that MS have released.
Try reseting the bios to default settings.
Personally I think it sounds as if you may unfortunately have rebuild the OS but hopefully it won't come to that.
