USB ports not responding from mobo.

Specs: Vista, Intel Core 2 Duo
I've just put together my first PC and booted it up. It asked me to put my OS CD in so I did. I then had to push a key to continue, but when I did that, nothing happened. I have a keyboard with a backlight and noticed that it wasn't lit up. I tried all other USB slots but still nothing.

Does anybody have any suggestions that I can try? Your help is greatly appreciated!!

Most PCs and OSs don't support USB mice and keyboards 100%, so use a PS/2 keyboard for now. Check the BIOS settings to make sure USB is enabled. Even if it is, use a PS/2 keyboard anyway until you get your OS installed, then you can install any drivers for the USB keyboard, then you can try the keyboard.
