I am working on a pc that whenever you try to plug into the front USB port, the pc reboots. I have never seen this problem before. Any ideas?

Thanks

My 'guess' might be that the leads from the front ports are not connected to the motherboard correctly. I have heard that there is no standard for the motherboard USB connectors. I'm not sure if that is true.

Thanks and the case manufacturer suggested to check the pinout configuration with the motherboard and looking at the schematic, they appear to be the same. Funny thing that this occurs sometimes and then never. I had usb items connected to the same pinouts and they did not give me any problems. This is and Antec Sonatal-ll case and the ports are on the same connector as a 1394 firewire port and it does the very same thing. I am suspect of the port modular and have contacted Antec to see what they say.

Thanks for the help.....

Try a different power supply.

Some won't have the jucie to boot a pc with USB device plugged in.

Who in their right mind would ever need more than 640K of RAM!?

Thanks I had thought about that, but this has a 450watt supply and for what it is connected, printer and mouse, I think it should be suffice. I am only checking the problem with a 512 MB flash drive. Outside of having 2 cooling fans, there is not much running.

Thanks
