USB port keep disconnecting device

October 6, 2011 at 10:30:15
Specs: Windows 7, 8gb
I have this new pc with Biostar TP67B+ and I installed the all the drivers on the disc. I have one keyboard connects to the pc and there is another USB hub with mouse, usb headphone and my mobile broadband dongle.
The problem is with the mobile broadband dongle. I would prefer to use front usb port for this dongle but it just won't allow me to connect after auto-install the driver.
Problem occurs too when I connect the dongle through usb hub. Sometimes it causes all other devices disconnected and not functioning. Other issues like frequent disconnection and slow login. This usb problem is getting annoying. I have to keep plugging in and out once the connection lost and sometimes I have to do a restart.

I am not certain if the driver has anything to do with this, but please help any advice will do.

Thank you.

USB controllers and ports have a finite amount of current capability. Using a hub will not increase that amount. Sounds like you are overloading your USB controller/ port. You can try moving the dongle to a port by itself.

One thing to note is that most times a USB controller service 2 ports. In the case of computers with built in card readers and some other devices, the controller may service 3 ports. So, ports located side by side probably are on the same controller.

Moving the device to usb port itself doesn't work in fact it gets worse. I did try but the device won't connect.
