usb port failure

ok once again when i plug something in to a usb port the found new hardware does not come up and my deice does not get installed. Ive done a system restore and still nothing...all the ports are said to be working properly when i got to the properties of the ports...i deleted all the ports and restarted my computer...when i logged back in to the computer it says found new hardware and goes through all the ports that i had deleted so the ports come back....but still wont find hardware... any ideas thanks

What exactly is it that you are plugging into the ports?
While most USB devices plugged into XP will register and find drivers automatically, some require that drivers be installed.
If it is the latter, then you may have to install device specific drivers first.

no all the things i am plugging in have worked before without drivers...jump drive, joystick, etc.

What he means is a lot of things dont just install themselves. You actually have to go and either throw in a driver disk or download it from company site in order for it to even recognize its there. Try That and let us know how it goes!

well i ran a driver test and it said that all my usb drivers were bad...so im geussing thats the issue but i cant seem to find anywhere to get the usb 2.0 drivers...anyone know where i can get them...thanks
