Comment: I am in the market for a new usb pen drive. However I have been doing alot of research and I cannot find a drive that does not require Win 98 drivers. I am starting to think there is no such thing. Has anyone ever heard of a usb pen drive that needs absolutly no drivers for any OS (or at least not windows 98)?

Reply: (edit) I purchased a PNY Thumb drive ,it comes with a CD with the drivers for Windows 98 ,it states for Windows Me or Windows XP that it will plug and play ! I have Windows Me ,a OEM pre-install version .When I attempted to use the drive ,the new hardware wizard informed me I had to extract some usb drivers from a .cab file on my H.D. After did some extracting of these needed drivers I was able to get the thumb drive to install correctly .I think you will be hard pressed to find a drive that does not require some kind of drivers installed for it to work ! Good Luck Nick

Reply: (edit)Upgrade to Windows XP, also most USB products are only supported in W98SE or later, and yes you will have to install drivers.................

Reply: (edit)Another hype. The auto-detect/auto-install works only on new Windows' systems (usually Win 98 and above with the proper USB circuitry on the motherboard.
