Comment: I have an older laptop with a PCMCIA 2.0 port that supports up to type 3 but not CardBus. I've done searching online and on eBay but can't find any clue to if there are USB expansion cards available for this standard. They all seem to be CardBus. If this is so does anyone know if there were CardBus cards released that were backwards compatible to the old standard? If what I learned is correct the only difference is the higher voltage.

Reply: (edit)USB Cards are only available in 32bit Cardbus. If your laptop only supports 16bit PCMCIA you will have to find Peripherals which do not require USB Connectivity. W98 First Edition also has poor USB support, W98 Second Edition was better, but not many manufacturers nowadys write drivers these obsolete O/Ses.
