when trying to install broadband the computer keeps on crashing , its on a pc whith nothing on it except xp thats only just been installed.
when i spoke to aol they reckon that the usb is kicking out to much power and keeps on crashing the system, but all the software installs O.K., is this possible as ive never heard of it and the modem is the only thing pluged into the usb ports,

help pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

Would like to be able to help but need more information. What is your CPU, how much RAM are you running? Do you have Ethernet? is the broadband modem ethernet compatible? If yes to these two then try ethernet.
Have not heard of USB pushing to much power.?
The minimum reccomendations for XP are; 350Mhz CPU, 128Mb RAM.

My first recommendation would be to do the Windows Updates. Some USB problems were addressed in the service pack.

i wouldnt listen to aol tech support. i phones looking for new numbers to dial (they supply free phone numbers for the un-initiated) and they told it it was my ram memeory causing the problem.....of course
