Specs: Windows 7
i have a toshiba 8gb memory stick that was full of pictures and has been working well for some time whislt on my travels around oz. ive now come home and trying to get the pictures off it.

i go in to my computer and select the drive, it comes up with usually k drive and double click it. it then says please insert drive in to removable drive position k. it does the same on every computer. so i feel its something wrong with the stick itself. anyway to get the pics off?? a whole years worth of my travels will be just memories if i cant get it back!

I guess you're learning the hard way that storing data on a jump drive is not reliable. They have a very high failure rate. You should always store them on a cd or external hard drive etc. Try to open it in disk management and see what happens. You can also try a free data recovery program like Recuva. You can find it here

Good Luck and say hello to the wizard for me.

Flash drives are the least reliable of modern storage media. They should be used primarily as a data interchange media, not as primary storage for important files.

Wherever they are stored, important files must have a backup copy. If they are of particular importance you should have 2 or more backup copies, preferably kept in different locations. Keeping all your eggs in one basket is asking for trouble.
