Comment: Hello, I hope this is the right forum for this...I have a 4200rpm laptop hard drive that I put into a 2.5 usb enclosure. It works fine with my laptop running Windows Xp and properly utilizes the usb 2.0 hardware. But when I connect it to my pc, also running windows XP, it takes FOREVER to upload from the drive to my PC's hard drive. I checked the device manager and Windows recognizes the drive as a Mass Storage Device and does not list any problems with the device. I have tried to uninstall all the usb drivers listed under device manager and I let Windows re-install them, but I still have the same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Reply: (edit)is it because the XP is only running at usb 1 speed on your pc? (usb2 is forty times a fast as usb1). In device manager under usb controllers is there an entry which says 'enhanced' or 'usb2.0' ?

Reply: (edit)so any ideas what he problem could be...Seems to only have a problem with speed on my pc and not on the laptop. I uninstalled and let Xp reinstall the usb drivers. Should I maybe try to update the VIA drivers?

Reply: (edit)I just formatted the mass storage drive and everything seems to be back to normal with repsect to transfer speeds. I think it might have had something to due with either bad data on the drive or severe fragmentation that could not be corrected. In any event, thanks to all that gave input. I appreciate it!
