usb hard drive thinks it needs to be disconne

May 11, 2011 at 13:09:22
Specs: Windows Vista
The USB external drive thinks that it was plugged into a computer, that it was prepared for "safe removal", but that it was never removed. It asks for the USB to be disconnected and reconnected. Even if you do this, it still thinks it needs to be disconnected and reconnected.

Test on other computer maybe?

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

Thanks Jefro. Plugging into another computer doesn't help, so presumably the problem lies in the USB hard drive. It is a Western Digitial 500GB drive.

I suspect some setting has been corrupted and that the drive is mechanically and electrically OK.
