USB hard disk error

pls guys.. help me..
my 60GB USb hard disk isn't working!! at the device manager it says "USB mass storage device" "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

please people don't say it's damaged!!

You can only hope that it is the caddy and the USB interface card that is duff. You can get an empty caddy on e-bay for about 10$, might be worth a try, swop the drive and see what happens. On the downside these 2.5" (I assume it is such.) do seem to have a habit of just packing in with a characteristic stop and start sound from them, as if they are trying to spin up and don't quite make it. I lost a 40GB one like that last month, I bought a new caddy but finished up buying a new drive as well.

Hold it - go slow. First try it on another PC. If no joy & beside trying a different caddy as suggested above, you have several other options listed HERE.

if its a 3.5inch drive, remove from caddy and connect up inside PC to see if works
