Hi,
I have two USB drives one is icon 16 MB, when insert it to my notebook, it is not detected. But if restart the notebook,it is detected and I can use it.
Another is newly bought 256MB Dane-Elec USB drive. It can not be detected even with restarting the machine.
These two USB drives have no problems with other machine.
Open device manage, saw under 'Other devices', there is ' Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller' with yellow'?' and red 'x'.
Try to reinstall the driver by 'Install software automaticlly', failed. Can anyone help me with this problem ? Thanks!
Yu

It seems that the USB controller driver is not installed or correctly installed. Try to download the new driver for it.

Delete ALL USB entries from device manager & reboot...XP will reinstall. If that doesn't help, reinstall the drivers

To get the driver, you need to go to your notebook manufacturer site and find the drive that list for your notebook model.
If you don't know how to update the driver, post back. However, they shouuld have intructions included with the driver.
