USB drive as Disk Drive?

why is it that when i plug my mp3 thumb drive player in to my usb, windows xp reconigsed it as a disk drive instead of a removable thumb drive?i cannot access my thumb drive thru my computer

now my system updates and it shows up as a mass storage device,how ever the disk type is shown as "Disk drive"

XP is having a hard time with the drivers for your thumb drive.

Was your computer able to recognize and access this drive before?
