I recently bought a usb dialup modem by US robotics. I hooked it in to a USB 2.0 port and installed it with the disk. It connected at about 49000 for about a week. I installed a PCI USB card and decided to plug my new modem into it instead of the front USB port that it had been plugged into. It would not work in its new port because of some conflict; eventhough, the device manager shows it to be working properly and showed no conflicts. Being in a hurry to get back online, I just moved the modem back to its original port. It connected fine, but it only connected at 26 or 28 thousand. Then, I uninstalled and reinstalled the modem. That didn't work. I tried updating the driver, but that didn't work either. Any suggestions to get me back to my original speed would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
If it doesn't work the 1st time try again and again.... the 3rd time find the tallest building around stand near a large window with a view.... Take a deep breath.. and drop the PC to it's death. LOL

Does that mean that you could not reinstall?
Or that you reinstalled and still connect at low speed?
If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.M2

I still connect at the slower speed.
