|The usb-ports only work with a couple devices.|
I installed the drivers for a samsung digital camera on my conputer and suddenly the usb-ports started to behave in a very wierd way.
I can plug in normal thumb-sticks that run on low power but my kingston 16GB stick stops working after a couple of seconds. I then tried with my olympus camera and that starts up and connects to the computer but when i enter the folder with pictures the camera starts "thinking" and is disconnected from the computer. The "removable disk (L:)" is still there but its empty.
This goes for all the usb ports. I have a usb-mouse and a usb-keyboard that work perfectly. My canon printer also works fine with the usb port.
The problem is that most of the mass storage devices that i have tried do not work except my old dell 256mb stick and my kingston 2GB stick.
I tried to restore the system to an earlier system point but there was no difference. I have tried to uninstall the root hubs and windows restack them after restart but it changes nothing. It feels like it is a power problem as i implied earlier- It seems the ports can't handle higher power outputs. I am thinking about buying a powered usb hub and test the ports that way?
I am running Vista now and thinking about uppgrading to windows 7 but it feels like a waste unless i can fix this.
I dont know if this is a hardware problem or a softwareproblem but since it stopped working while installing drivers i think it is a softwareproblem?
I have reset bios.
Is there any answers to this wierd problem?
