My MB is USB 2.0 but my front pannel inputs are giving me the "this could work faster if it was conn. to usb 2....etc" It says use these high speed conn. instead, it lists 6, It only has 6 they should all be USB 2.0

Brad, it's possible that the USB ports on the front panel are USB 1. I had a similar problem when I installed a three-port 5-1/4" USB panel in a PC and it ran at only USB 1 speed -- the hub in it was USB 1.
Are the rear ports running at USB 2 speed? Check Universal Serial Bus in Device Manager to see if it says "enhanced" somewhere. Enhanced denotes USB 2.

That's a message that I've gotten when my MOBO chipset drivers were corrupted.
Reinstalling them corrected the problem for me.

Yes, the rear ports are running USB 2, I am running XP SP2, I'll try installing drivers again.
Thanks, Brad
