Comment: I bought an external USB hard drive - USB2.0 It was not recognized as a 2.0 on my machine, it was on another so I definitelly know it is a 2.0. I already had XP SP2 installed, but I still went ahead and installed the 2.0 drivers - no help. Just recently I did a clean install of XP and SP2 hoping it will help....but no. When I first plug in the drive it says USB 2.0 detected, but then it goes on to say "This device is plugged into a non-high speed usb port....etc...etc..." Under hardware devices it tells me that I have an enhanced USB, so I definitelly know I have 2.0 on my motherboard-ASUSP4533-E. Any ideas? Thank

Reply: (edit)Go into Device Manager and update driver on usb controllers untill one says "enhanced usb driver" or "enhanced usb 2.0"...don't know why when adding SP2 trhey don't default on but they don't.

Reply: (edit)I checked all 6 usb ports including the main motherboard ports. I have not checked the bios, I will do this next. BTW. does anone know if the p4B533-E has a usb2.0 enable jumper on it? The manufacturer manual doesnt say anything about it but an article I read says there is a jumper... :/

Reply: (edit)Rafalc, I have the same problem with my p4b533-e. Once I connect my ipod it says "this device could work faster.." something like that. It then shows me the available USB2 connections (6 are available) which is the exact number of USB ports I have. I removed the usb ports and reinstalled them. Re-installed the Asus inf and usb2 drivers. It does show an enhanced USB device but just does not use it when I try to connect. This evening I will try to disable the non-usb2 device listed in device manager maybe that works. I am also thinking of sending a message to asus. Will let you know once I master this problem, could you please do the same?

Reply: (edit)Dries, I already posted a question in the ASUS forum, 1 person said they have the same problem and they were not able to resolve it even by following the steps in the readme file for usb2.0 in the ASUS driver folder. I am clueless as to what to do next. Let me know how it went with disabling the non-usb2 devices.
