I have been having serious issues with my onboard usb ports here lately. To boot I got a new cell phone with mp3 type player built in and it is causing major fits.

I followed the instructions with the driver disk letting it install all drivers, reboot, then connect and try to sync the files.

Sometimes it works, most of the time is doesn't.

Most of the time I plug the phone into the cable and then into the usb and you get the typical found usb sound. Of course it says it's there in device manager but I can't sync.

I go to unplug phone and NO usb disconneted sound also the phone is still stuck in device manager usb. Only thing to do is reboot pc to get rid of it and be able to use a usb port again. Upon rebooting the computer freezes in shutting down... so I have to do a hard shutdown or hit reset switch.

This only has a major problem with phone.

I have tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling.

I have tried removing or uninstalling all usb drivers in device manager and reinstalling.

Whatever I do I have about a 80/20 chance it will work. 80 being not working 20 being working.

I cannot seem to find the latest USB 2.0 drivers for this motherboard. Searched ASUS downloads with no luck. just LAN, Sound, BIOS, AGP, etc...

The phone music kit came with the driver for this phone and data cable.

I've had similar problems with other USB devices but none this troublesome!

Let me know if i'm missing any details.

Thanks

Windows XP SP2 has the USB 2.0 drivers included, due to licensing restrictions there are no 3rd Party Drivers, maybe try a USB forum ?

I don't think the problem is with the board...it's probably with the phone & it's included drivers.

It's always helpful to supply as much info as possible, but you didn't bother to include any info about your phone? I suggest you check the phone manufacturer's website & see if they have a forum or FAQs or some sort of support.

I didn't think to mention the phone, it's a samsung a930.

Some reason samsung support won't come up on my computer either.

If the samsung support will not come up either I would remove and reinstall the software. That is always a good way to go when trouble shooting. Also chekc with the manufacturer for any of the latest firmware releases or software updates. Next thing to try would be to use this phone on another computer to make sure it is working. I take it you have no other issues with other devices on the USB ports.

Thanks jam. Somehow I couldn't get it to show up???

But this part sucks!

Samsung does not offer software or drivers for connectivity or communication between your Verizon Wireless handset (mentioned above). However, Verizon Wireless offers their Music Essentials Kit for the above listed models. This kit contains the proper USB data cable, USB drivers (Windows 2000 / XP only), Stereo Headset with Call Answer/End Button, & Windows Media Player 10.

I got the kit but dono wats up with it. Guess i'll try another computer and see.
