I've recently upgraded my modem from a standard us robotics internal 56k pci, to an external us robotics 56k faxmodem that supports v92 (model 5686e) I uninstalled my old modem and drivers and com that it was on, and physically removed the modem. After installing the external, the computer recognized it as us robotics ext 56k faxmodem p&p. I then updated the driver off of the CD. I installed Control Center from the CD and then installed the phone on hold program from the CD. I rebooted and the phone on hold program came up with an error that said "no valid us robitics modem fount"(or something close to that) I then found that the Control Center is unable to locate the modem also. I've repeated this several times, including downloading the drivers from us robotics. The modem does work, but not very well. It seems to be working off of the basic plug and play, and not up to v92, even though it is on the latest driver. Also, on the modem properties, it states that the driver is version 5.3.22.0 Under diagnostics, it says that the modem is a usr2082, and that sure isn't right. I'm pulling my hair out. Any help is appreciated.

Did you uninstall the old modem from the device manager?

Also did you physically remove the old 56K modem from the computer?

Sometimes 2 modems causes conflicts.
