I just bought a printer(hp deskjet 3535) and it works on all the computers except mine. I hook it up and install the driver but then whenever i print the testpage or any other thing. it just takes in the page and right when its about to print it just stops and the page gets stuck in there. I don't understand because i hooked it up to a different computer and it worked perfectly fine. I took it back to the shop i bought it from and he said that maybe i didn't install the driver right. I don't quite know how to completley uninstall the driver. So i need some help with that.

I'd first try just going to Control Panel and then Add/Remove Programs and uninstall everything related to the printer, then reinstall from the disk again and see if it's better. If you haven't tried that yet, it's the best place to start.

Make sure, too, that when you install it, all the programs shown to be running next to the clock in the lower right-hand corner are disabled while you install. I had a similar problem with a printer install, and it was because I had WindowBlinds running at the time.

Anyway worth a try.

Also, make sure you have the latest driver for your printer from their website. I know I'm offering basic stuff here, but often this is all that's needed.

Do you have any other printer software installed prior to this one? That could be conflicting with the HP driver, especially if it was another HP printer.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ OC 2.7ghz
2GB Dual Channel DDR 3200
Nvidia 7900GT
SATA II 2x 300gig 7200rpm 16mb cache RAID-0+1
Gigabyte Nforce 4 SLI

Did you read the installation instructions and follow them? Sometimes the software needs to be installed first and sometimes later. You need to follow the procedure outlined in the install instructions.
When attempting a re-installation did you remove the entry for the existing installation from within Settings> printers? Also, you should reboot after removing things before attempting a re-installation.

Open Printers and Faxes from control panel. Click file, then server properties. Click the drivers tab. See if the HP driver is there. If there are any non-HP drivers, highlight and click remove.

Believe me, if it's an HP and you used Add/Remove programs you didn't completely uninstall the drivers.

Try it again and then do a search on your hard drive and you'll find that HP folder sitting right there. Delete that, then you have to go into the registry and remove every entry regarding your printer model.

Then and only then will you have completely removed the printer.

Even HP's "removal" tool doesn't get rid of all references to the printer.

It's a pain but I've done this more times than I care to count on HP faulty installs.

Usually done by the person who hooks up the printer first and then puts the cd in for the drivers. That worked under Win98, but not anymore with USB printers and Win2k and XP.
