I am currently needing an upgrade and havent done it before so i am needing a little help. I have a PIII 600mhz with a PC100 motherboard and a meger 64 MB RAM. I just really need some advice as to what needs to be changed first and maybe some recommendations on hardware. I am not looking for a super computer just a realiable, affordable system that will be up with the times for, well as long as possible. Any advice would be great and thanks in advance:)

What a brand new system. Do you want new peripherals as well (speakers keyboard monitor etc.) What are you going to use the system for primarily? Can you be a little more specific please.

oh ok well a little bit of gaming but not much, mainly just internet and windows based things (word, exel, music). all im really after is motherboard with on board sound and graphics, processor and RAM. Just so i can run everyday programs and like on it. no monitor keyboard mouse or cd/dvd roms needed. Currently have just a dial up modem and no immediate plans for broardband. My biggest need for an upgrade is that my onboard graphics on my current board is on the out. Would like a decent motherboard with a couple of USB ports basically just a good quality board, dont know alot about them really. Think thats it. Thanks:)

Jack,
Look at newegg.com, SVC and other online retailers and you should be able to find a motherboard/2Gig Celeron for less than a hundred bucks, add a 256Mb memory chip and you're in business. Skip
