hi all,
i've got an old mobo msi 5184 with amd 400mhz cpu. i'm thinking of upgrading to 733mhz. currently it's running at bus speed 100mhz x 4.5 clock multiplier(overclocked), i've read the mobo manual that 66/75/83/95/100/112/124/133mhz clocks are supported. my question is, if i get a 733mhz(133mhz x 5.5) cpu on it and keep my 100mhz sd ram, will there be a problem ?

An AMD 450 is a K6 processor Super Socket 7, the latest manufacturered were 550mhz ie 5.5x100, the other settings were for future CPU's which never materialised. If you can get hold of a 550mhz you can take it up to 6x if the MoBo supports.
Where does a 733mhz CPU come from??? AMD never made that mhz, or are you intending tio fit an Intel chip? which is entirely different and will not fit.

And if you do take the FSB up to 133 Mhz you are likely to have problems with 100 Mhz memory. Some 100 Mhz memory will work at 133 Mhz but I wouldnt bank on it. It would be very unreliable.
Summary: I did run the MS upgrade advisory software but it did not say anything about the upgrade ability to win 7 64 bit. I'll take a wild guess and say it cannot run it even with upgraded cpu....Here is the ...
Summary: go with 1 if you can afford it #2- from what I understand, the nforce2 chipset doesn't utilize the dual channel as good as the P4 chipsets use dual channel. #3- your DDR400 would run at 333 and have n...
Summary: It's compatible and I've upgraded the BIOS. Like I said, the CPU works exactly like it should if I take out the graphics card and the graphics card works fine with the old processor. My problem is the...
