Yesterday I upgraded my PC which I built about a year and a half ago, and have never had any problems with, until now.
The upgrade was simply a matter of swapping my AMD 2200 with a 2800. I also put in a new heatsink and fan as the old one was definitely not upto the job.
On first starting up I was getting a message (where it normally says the name of the cpu) unknown cpu, but i saw that it was using a fsb of 100mhz. Went into the bios, and changed this to 166. On starting again I got the same message, but now it was giving the right cpu speed of 2.17ghz.
Tried it a few more times, but still the same message. I tried clearing cmos, but after doing that, when I turn on the pc, nothing happens. It turns on and, blank screen.
Any ideas as to what I should do now.
Mobo: Asus A7N8X Deluxe

CPU: AMD XP 2800+
HDD: 200G Maxtor
MEM: 1G OCZ
Sound: SB Audigy 2 Plat(Just incase any one asks, I was very careful with handling the cpu, I build about 10 pc's at work everyday so I know how to handle them)
I appreciate any help!

The correct speed of a 2800+ is not 2.17Ghz. If it's a Tbred, it should be 2.25ghz, Barton is 2.08ghz, Sempron is 2.0ghz. All of these run at 166mhz/333FSB.
If it's coming up as "unknown processor", it probably means you haven't updated your BIOS in a while, so the CPU isn't properly recognized. Did you unplug the power cord when clearing CMOS? Put the jumper back to the "normal" position?
Seems to me, someone who builds 10 PCs a day should be familiar with these things & know how to correct them without having to post questions in a forum.
