Unfortunately it isn't that easy.

You will need to replace your motherboard, get new memory (RAM) and get your cpu.

It will hit you for somewhere around $200 if you get 128 meg.

I am unsure of the power requirement of a Pentium4, but I wiould assume you need a 300watt power supply unit for that piece of kit.

You will be able to use your current ATX case (if it is a tower case) your current cd rom/dvd rom/ cd rwiter, hard drive, floppy drive, keyboard and mouse ands all other bits.

Hello,
Welcome for ur new upgrading think.
U have to Upgrade not only processore but also Ur new motherboard. RAM, and AGP ( If u don't have an AGP which supports AGP 4x).
If u are having a 133 MHZ SDRAM then u can use that RAM in ur new P4 system. If u don't then u can upgrade them with ur choice. there are three choices depend on to u. 1. SD RAM. 2. DDR RAM and 3. RD RAM. For different of RAM there are different of motherboard.
So, think about these components then u can upgrade ur computer.
Good luck.

Hey Atti:

If your current computer is running well, I’d suggest you keep it and buy or build a new computer. Other than for a modem or NIC card, there may be very little in your current computer that would be “compatible” with a P4 1.5GHz platform.

I also think you should keep your old PC and buy a barebone system, it comes with the case, power supply, mother board, and processor. they are cheaper that way than buying all parts seperately. I think you would like this deal.
http://www.econopc.com/applications/search/itemdetails.asp?sku=BBPCP4215&sc=pr
$155.99+$5.26 S&H (usd).
Then you can just transfer your Hard drive,CD-ROM,floppy and other hardware. this board supports SDRAM and DDRAM
has onboard sound (not always a good thing but in some cases)4XPCI slots and 1 4XAGP slot for video. You would need PC133 or ddr2700 I think for RAM.
Hope this helps :-)

I don't know what n3985 is saying; my ancient Abit BE6-II mobo with a PII 450 supports 4x AGP. I've got a Pentium 166 mmx mobo with 2x AGP!
