upgrade to windows vista from win xp

Specs: Windows XP
hey i have an e system 3083 laptop with 512mb of ram, 1.6 ghz intel celeron 380 processor and originally designed for windows xp. can i install win vista, and will affect the performace of my pc.

I doubt XP runs all that great with only 512MB RAM. Vista will be even worse. Before making a move, upgrade your RAM...Vista needs a minimum of 1GB.

I doubt that Vista will improve the performance of your box, even if you add 512mb of RAM.

If you need a performance increase, adding the RAM to XP will probably help quite a bit. But it does depend upon which (and how many) applications that you have running.

Run the Upgrade Advicor, but on that low end Laptop you would be better of to stick to XP:
