Chances are almost zero that that new CPU will work in your old mobo. 2 years is a long time these days. serge

If your PC is a brand name you could easily find the max MHz CPU for the motherboard you have . You could visit the site of your PC or board manufacturer. If you really need XP PRO,change the whole unit. You could try to find one that would use the memory chips(probably PC 100 MHz type), CD-ROM drive etc. This is an akward solution though. Some discounters (in Canada we have Future Shop)have very decent packages that sell cheap and are about the speed you intend to buy.I tend to think that a unit that has a decent power supply(300 Watt) with a couple of empty bays is good enough for day to day work. Change the whole unit for a used brand name one that is about one year old. Take the 2 or 3 years warranty program and have fun with your PC.
