Got some x-mas cash , want to upgrade my main system. Will be getting tha EPOX-EP-8RDA MB and putting in a 2600+ AMD. Couple of questions 1. Do I have to reformat my drive since it will be attached to new MB (and new chipset as the epox board is nforce 2 platform) 2. Is this a good board to select ( i will not be overclocking). Thanks!

I've been able to upgrade my mobo twice without reformatting my drive. I'd try it without formatting. If the drive isn't recognized you can always hook it up to a another computer and reformat.

You shouldn't have to reformat your hard drive. You may have to remove any hardware profiles and software associated with your old mobo from Windows, but that should be it. Your new board will come with a driver CD that you'll have to install to access all of its features.

The EPOX-EP-8RDA board looks good from what I've seen online. Will you be getting the one with the onboard NIC? The other question is what OS are you using? If it's Windows you should be fine. If you're using something else (e.g. Linux, BeOS) you should make sure that it's compatible. It wouldn't hurt to do some research on your board, if you haven't already, to be sure it's what you need/want. Good luck!

Keep in mind the difference between the 8RDA and the 8RDA+

There's only about a $5-$10 price difference, but the "non +" drive lacks onboard firewire and 10/100 LAN!

From what I've read, with WinXP you don't have to do anything special before changing the motherboard, just shutdown your system, swap the board & bootup again, WinXP will do the rest.
