Hi, I was thinking of upgrading my proseser
from a Celeron 1.7ghz to a P4 2.4ghz, will
this work? I know that the pins on the
bottom of the proseser have to be the same.
Will I be able to do this? Thanks in
advance.

Maybe. If you have a socket 478 celeron and if your mobo supports a faster processor, than yes.
Check the documentation on your motherboard.

There is no documentation on my
motherboard, but the modle of my computer
is an hp pavilion 503n, and so far I have
upgraded the video card and the ram.
Someone told me that upgrading the proseser
would be a little harder tho, so thats why
I am asking here.

Wait! I found my motherboard specs:

So, can I upgrade my Celeron to a P4?

I doubt anyone can answer that question without knowing the specific motherboard. Your hp model may not always use the same board. If you cannot get the exact mobo specs from hp, then I would not try the upgrade.
You could google search for pics of a socket 478 celeron. If you have a 478, that is half of what you need to know. You will still need to find out what processors your mobo will support.

http://www.intel.com/design/chipsets/845gl/.
Intel says that it will support a P4 that uses a 400mhz front side bus.

get a 400fsb 2.4ghz p4 and it should work....... the socket is the same...... but that sounds like a s---ty mobo and it might not work
good luck
