I have never updated a bios before. I have the ASRock K7S8X motherboard, with the bios version it came with (v1.3). I have seen that bios version 2.2 is now available. Would it be worth updating the bios?

That depends. If you need the functions that the BIOS update provides then yes. If you dont need them then leave well alone. As the old saying goes, If it aint broke, don't fix it.
Updating the BIOS is fraught with problems. Get it wrong and you could end up with a usless motherboard. If you do update, read the instructions carfully. If there is anything you dont understand, ask for help.

I agree with Stuart. Unless you need the update for eample because you want to install a bigger harddrive which size is only supported by the new version or you have strange problems with the system I wouldn't do it. You make one error or the system crashes just while writing the new bios you need a new rom chip or a place that can reburn your old (unless you have a board with double bios - one works as backup).
BTW: Follow the instructions to the point if you update. Best you print them out!

I also agree. Update a Bios only as a last resort to fix a problem. Upgrades are not perfect and you might cause new problems.
