building a system with new components is not that different than written in most "old" tutorials.
as a matter of fact, it just gets easier, because most motherboards have now jumperless configuration.
If you don't own a floppy drive, just skip those parts.

Just about anyone can assemble a PC. RAM goes in RAM slots, the CPU goes in the CPU socket, PCI cards go in PCI slots, etc. And most things are slotted/notched so that you can't plug them in the wrong way.

The biggest trick is knowing what hardware components work well with each other. And that info won't be found in a "how to" guide.

Be sure to do some research on Heatsink to CPU install and thermal paste/pad usage. Using a pad instead of paste is probably a wise choice for the inexperienced.
