Unplugged Vista laptop no longer boot fully

Specs: Windows Vista
I recently unplugged my Compaq Presario C500 laptop while the battery pack was removed..ever since i have not been able to turn it back on..it is charging fine..however when i turn it on it sounds like it is booting up for a second then the light on the power on button just flashes and nothing else happens...I was hoping you would be able to help me out

... try pressing the power button "in" with the battery removed and the mains disconnected.

... then hook'em back up .... anything? can you enter your bios?

I have tried that and still no luck...Im a bit slow when it comes to technology...what do you mean by entering your bios???

... I suggest that you turn it on its back and unscrew the small back plate and remove the cmos battery (watch type) click here I'm hoping its in the same place as this one (hp c300)

... I'd leave it out overnight then stick it back in, unplugging (power source) it "cold" as in removing the plug could of bios shocked the settings, perhaps even buy a new cmos battery they're cheap enough!

Still the same...power light keeps flashing and laptop looks like it is turned off...

... have you tried it with just the battery, if so does the led still flash?

... also try it with the ram chip removed.

... seems strange to me as to why its flashing unless it always flashed in the past when you turn it on.

... I know of cases were the laptop showed the same symptoms when it went into hibernation mode when the battery started to fail.

... which was sorted after the #1 trick then booted up from a cd after typing some commands

... also try tapping <ESC> <F1> <F2> <DELete> <F10> <keys> one at a time when you turn it on, thats one <key> at each try.

... do you have any bootable cd's?
