In Device manager, I do have 1 device where the driver is not seen. I am not sure what device this is. It saus drivers for th is device are not installed (Code 28), and the location says:

Location 65535 (Internal High definition audio).

But my sound is working fine. I have installed the audio drivers and this device is not it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mark C.

Did you also install an add in sound card? What exactly is the listing for your sound in Device Manager?

See also system information in help and support. I think it is msinfo32

See properties. Should look like this PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2562&SUBSYS_217914A4&REV_03

Then look up VEN as in Vendor

And DEV as in the device model

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10

You could try to Remove this driver and reboot. If it's something that you need, Windows will try to reinstall it and maybe it will do it correctly this time. If it's a phantom error, then nothing will happen.

A positive attitude won't solve all your problems, but it will annoy just enough people to be worth the effort.

Are you sure you installed all the sound drivers? Most of the time the audio will have several components needing multiple driver files.

I actually found it. It was the Conexant modem, which was on the High def audio bus.

All set. Not that I'll ever use the modem anymore!
